Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh seeks innovative literature teacher for high school / mesivta

You are well-read, articulate, and want to share your enthusiasm with students.

You value grammar instruction and its power to change meaning, and also understand how communicating via Twitter can be a poetry form akin to Haiku. You can draw upon a wide range of genres and literary forms to teach students the skills of close reading, textual analysis, deconstructing character and theme. You understand how communicating ideas and ideals is the most important aspect of literature.

You have a constructivist, student-centered approach to learning, inspire non-readers to grow in their excitement for reading, by making selections memorable, meaningful, and relevant. You are willing to “reinvent the wheel,” be creative and interactive in your approach, include project-based learning, and multidisciplinary products.

You have a degree in literature, successful teaching experience, and care about kids. Comfort with UbD is a plus.
