Back 2 Basics was created by a small group of people who are passionate about the Sichos of the Rebbe and the importance of delivering these Sichos to the younger generation in a manner that is appealing, exciting, relevant and interesting. B2B allows the students to learn on their own and gives them the tools they need to make the experience enjoyable, inspiring, and exciting. More than simply acquiring information, the students will accumulate the skills they need in order to learn Sichos for the rest of their lives.

This curriculum gives students a deeper understanding and insight into Tefillah as seen through the lens of Chassidus. Students gain insight into the purpose of Tefillah, and learn about Tefillah as a ladder. They also do individual research to discover the meaning behind the Peirush Hamilos and give presentations on their assigned sections of Shacharis. The last section is a 4 week unit on “Der Penimi” – which is mostly based on the teachings of the Frierdiker Rebbe and the Rebbe Rashab. It includes excerpts of Sichos, Maamorim, and Tanya Perek Chof Ches, with stories sprinkled throughout.

This curriculum is based on the book “No Greater Treasure” authored by Shoshana Lepon (Used with permission). It’s a warm, happy book which helps to put students in a pleasant mindframe. Its stories are based on Noshim Tzidkanios throughout history, mostly during the times of the Gemara. For example, it discusses the story of Chanina ben Dosa’s wife using vinegar to light Shabbos candles and Mar Ukba and his wife running away from the pauper’s house and running into the oven. It’s an enjoyable workbook which includes worksheets and fun activities to review the materials, such as creating menus or designing a kids nursery, which all relate to the stories being told.
