This graphic organizer is intended to illustrate to students that Rashi’s goal is to answer a question, not just provide additional, interesting information, and his question is about the text itself (Standard 5.5). Furthermore, it highlights the point that when the question of Rashi is not explicitly stated, looking at the Dibur Hamaschil, the words of the posuk that Rashi is commenting on, can provide us with clues to which question Rashi is addressing. The teacher’s guide, template, and sample included help the students understand the role of the Dibur Hamaschil and visualize the Rashi in grades 3-8.
