Still on a high from Tuesday night’s Gala Chinuch Banquet, Mechanchos were excited to attend another day of workshops and sessions at the second day of the 8th Annual Kinus Mechanchos Chabad. With over 26 workshops, and a full day resource fair that boasted cutting-edge teaching curricula and classroom resources, Mechanchos were able to add to their teaching repertoire before the upcoming school year.
Sessions for early childhood educators included “The Most Important Part of Classroom Set Up” with Shaina Baumgarten, Teacher at Silverstein Hebrew Academy, and “Multi-Sensory Alef Bais Instruction” with Chedvy Baras of All My Children.
Dr. Rona Novick, Renowned Therapist and Educational Expert, gave a workshop on Bully Prevention and Building Connection, and presented her keynote speech at lunch, entitled, “SEL As Well? Growing Our Children’s Social Emotional Repertoire,” which provided valuable tools about how to incorporate social-emotional learning into the work that educators already do.
Other workshops on pertinent Chinuch topics, led by educational experts, took place throughout the day, including: “Your Superpower as a Leader in Your Classroom,” with Rabbi Zelly Silber, M.S.Ed, “Unlocking the Secret to Student Engagement,” with Mushkie Lipsker, M.S.Ed, of the Evergrowing Educator platform, and “Are We On the Same Team? Communicating with Parents Effectively,” with Nechama Dahan, M.S.Ed.
A panel of seven educators joined a discussion called “Mechanchos Mindsets,” facilitated by Kesem Mia Hetsrony of Cheder Chabad Philadelphia, and another panel discussion called, “No Student Left Behind! Systems for Leadership Teams to Support Each Child’s Needs” by Nami Friedman, of Yeshiva Schools of Pittsburgh, and Dena Gorkin, of Bnos Chomesh Academy, took place for school leaders.
To culminate the Kinus Mechanchos on a note of collaboration and inspiration, the final session of the Kinus included Chavrusah learning on the Rebbe’s Horaos on Chinuch, before Kinus presenters shared their takes on a beautiful panel called “The Great Chinuch Balancing Act of 5783.”
The largest-ever Kinus Mechanchos Chabad could not have been made possible without the incredible team: Alyson Feldman of FFH Events, Dovid Weinbaum of DW Events, Sara Varon of MEF, Chana Rose of MEF, and Mushkie Lipsker of the Evergrowing Educator, together with the dedicated committee of the Kinus Mechanchos.
