As Chassidim of the Rebbe, we know that המעשה הוא העיקר, and that sighing about the issues our students face is not enough. With this in mind, we have developed a protocol for dealing with students in crisis, so that no school administrators should be unprepared for dealing with a crisis ch”v, and that no students should be left without help when in need. The protocol below was developed with the help and feedback of many mechanchos who shared the needs of their schools in providing appropriate care for children in crisis.
This document is a suggested protocol for identifying and responding to students in crisis. It has been prepared by Mrs. Dena Gorkin in conjunction with Mrs. Gitty Francis LMSW, MEF and Chabad educators. You can use this resource as a guideline for responding to mental health or trauma related crisis in your school or classroom, as well as a template for adding your school and community specific protocols and resources.
