Supporters of Our Heritage Gather to Ensure Jewish Education for Every Child

Supporters of the Our Heritage program gathered at the home of Shmuly and Yael Brummel for an evening dedicated to ensuring every Jewish child receives a Jewish education. The Our Heritage program focuses on helping children transfer from public schools to Jewish day schools, providing them with financial support and a nurturing environment where they can grow with a strong connection to Torah, mitzvos, and Jewish values.

Shmuly Brummel, welcomed guests to the event, marking a significant milestone not only for his family but also for the Our Heritage program, which continues to expand its impact on Jewish education.

The evening began with a Rebbe video by JEM, underscoring the importance of Jewish education today—not tomorrow. The Rebbe shared on many occasions

“כסף – אם אין היום, יכולים ללוות… אבל ילד שצריכים לחנכו – אי אפשר לדחות זאת למחר או מחרתיים…”

“Money can be solved perhaps tomorrow, but education lost, is lost. You can’t really catch up on that tomorrow.”

One of the highlights of the evening was when Rabbi Tuvia Greisman, a business partner of the late Shneur Hirsch, shared his personal story of involvement with the Our Heritage program. “I was visiting Shneur in the hospital and he asked me to come closer, as he has to talk to me about something important. ‘My wife and I got involved in this project which we think is so important: helping Jewish children in public school go to Cheder to receive a Jewish education… and I would like for you and the company to get involved as well’”.

Rabbi Chaim Drizin then introduced Alex Lemberg, his bank manager, whose son joined Mazal Day School through the Our Heritage program. In a moving story, Alex shared how his son received a Chumash at the end of last year, only to open it and discover that it was sponsored by none other than Rabbi Drizin himself.

Rabbi Raleigh Resnick followed with a compelling speech about the importance of the Our Heritage program. He connected the mission of Tomchei Temimim – the Lubavitch yeshiva founded by the Rebbe Rashab – to be a Neiros L’hair, to the work being done today to ensure every Jewish child receives a Torah education. Rabbi Resnick shared the inspiring story of Meila, a young girl who, after joining a Jewish school through the Our Heritage program, now inspires her own mother to embrace Torah and mitzvos of keeping kosher and lighting Shabbos candles.

Rabbi Zalman Shneur concluded the evening by sharing how in just 5 short years, Our Heritage has already helped 704 children, impacting their lives, families and futures!  Each child received a grant aiding in their transfer from public school to a Jewish day school. He thanked the donors who have made this possible and issued a strong call to action, asking for additional support to ensure that the remaining children registered for this year, can also benefit from this life-changing opportunity.
