About the Chabad Chinuch Convention & Retreat

The 9th Annual כינוס מחנכות חב”ד brings together educators from across the globe for two days of knowledge, inspiration, networking, and practical teaching solutions. As a fully immersive retreat, the Convention gives educators the opportunity to refresh and rejuvenate in an elegant atmosphere, while gaining tools from renowned educational experts on relevant Chinuch topics, for the coming year.

Kinus Program

The Kinus program features a combination of in-depth seminars, teacher-led panels, workshops and general sessions planned by the Kinus Committee, to ensure that you leave empowered and equipped for your Shlichus in Chinuch. Swimming, entertainment, farbrengens and plenty of time for connection and collaboration will ensure that you are uplifted in both body and soul.

Bussing

Round-trip transportation will be available from Crown Heights to the hotel, with a cost of $10 each way. Please select the transportation that you need during the registration process. The cost will be added to your total.

Registration for transportation will close on Thursday, July 4 – כ”ח סיון.

Bus pickup and drop-off in Crown Heights will be from the Jewish Children’s Museum, Kingston Avenue entrance, at the times listed below.

9:30 AM Kinus begins with reading of the פ”ן כללי and תפילות at the Ohel.

1:00 PM – 5:15 PM Workshops and sessions offered in parallel tracks so you can customize your Kinus experience.

Dr. Shani Verschleiser is the founder of MagenU and Trauma, trauma trained therapist with a private practice in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Verschleiser also serves as an educator on child sexual abuse prevention.

Mrs. Sarah Pinson is a founder and Head of School at Kerem Menachem in Nice, France. Her family is on Shlichus for six generations, going back to grandparents who were Shluchim of the Frierdiker Rebbe, to great-grandchildren born on Shlichus, Baruch Hashem. After growing up in the Bronx, Sarah moved to France in 1976, soon after founding a school and embarking on her Shlichus of Chinuch. Kerem Menachem has grown into a thriving moisad with 350 children ages 2-15. Sarah is passionate about reaching every child through Chinuch with joy!

Rabbi Krisch is a seasoned lecturer and sought-after speaker who specializes in the intersection between science, technology, medicine, and authentic Judaism. He holds academic degrees in biology, health sciences, and science journalism, and Orthodox (Chabad) ordination as a rabbi and rabbinic judge. His science writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Scientific American, Popular Mechanics, and several other international publications (under the byline Joshua A. Krisch). He served as a Chabad emissary to Ithaca College in upstate New York for five years, conducted cancer research, worked as an EMT, and flew single-engine airplanes. He now lives in upstate New York, where he delivers daily and weekly Torah classes and works in the  Biomedical Communications department at The Rockefeller University.

Mrs. Fruma Schapiro is, first and foremost, a mother and grandmother. She has taught in Ohel Chana High School in Los Angeles for 25 years. A beloved mentor and guide for her students, she is also involved with extracurriculars such as the school’s production. Mrs. Schapiro gives a weekly shiur, created by alumni, that gets sent via WhatsApp and Spotify to hundreds of people around the world.

As CEO of Tree of Knowledge Learning Academy, Nicki has had a great deal of success in developing educational programs, implementing efficiencies in schools, crafting educational options and safe learning environments, assessing situational challenges, and strategizing and rendering action plans. She has extensive experience in teacher training and professional development. As a direct service provider, Nicki is an advocate and mediator for special needs students in their dealings with local school districts and private schools. She has provided educational case management services for students in hospitals and in complex special education needs. She maintains a wealth of varied resources that she implements to meet client needs.

With nearly three decades of Chinuch experience, Mrs. Rosenfeld also serves as a professional development presenter and educational consultant as well.

Rabbi Yossi Marlow, originally from Crown Heights, honed his leadership skills under his father, Harav HaGaon Rabbi Yehudah Marlow – the famed and venerated Rav of the Crown Heights Beis Din who elicited extraordinary praise from the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Rabbi Marlow spent several years engaged in teaching positions. He began with a Yeshivah high school in his native community, before relocating to Miami, Florida in 1994 to share his remarkable knowledge with the students of Klurman Mesivta High School and Hillel Community School while establishing Bais Menachem, now a thriving Shul with over 150 families. In addition to his duties as a rabbi, delivering series of classes, and guiding his own community, Rabbi Marlow is sought regularly from far beyond his community’s borders as a Rav and Dayan.

If you hold or are looking to hold any Chinuch position for the coming school year, then you will enjoy the tools, networking, and inspiration provided by this event. This includes both Limudei Kodesh or General Studies, school leadership or teaching roles, assistants and specialists, for ages 2 through 12th grade. Whether you are a new teacher-in-training or a veteran educator, Mechanchos of all ages and stages have enjoyed this event. This is a Chabad event, however you are welcome to join whatever kind of school you teach in. Please be respectful of Chabad values when attending the Kinus.

This event is for women only. Please make other arrangements for your family at that time, as we cannot accommodate spouses and children at the hotel. Infants up to 18 months can join you provided that they participate in the babysitting program listed in the registration options.

Please refer to our new 3 tier pricing structure on the registration section of this page. We ask educators to please pay the actual cost if possible (tier 1), or the subsidized price (tier 2). Tier 3 and scholarships are to ensure that no teacher is left behind from participating in this conference.

Your registration includes the hotel accommodations, workshops and sessions, meals and refreshments and any additional amenities provided by the hotel such as swimming. This is true regardless of which pricing tier you choose, unless you select Daytime or Banquet only. Bussing is an additional fee that you can select during registration.

We have included extended stay options for before and after the program in the registration form. Please note that there is no programming, meals or refreshments provided before program start time and after the program concludes. If you are reserving an extra night at the hotel, please ensure that you packed all of your needs for the extended stay.

What if I’m coming by car or taxi instead of by bus?2024-01-09T10:36:16-05:00

If you’re coming by car, you can choose to meet our group at the Ohel at 9:00 AM, or at the hotel in time for the program to begin at noon. Please come a little bit early to give you adequate time to obtain your room key and sign in to the program. If you have space in your car (or taxi), please join the ride sharing WhatsApp group to offer rides to others who may need a similar ride as you. There is an additional $10 fee for parking at the hotel.

What is the suggested attire for the Kinus Mechanchos Chabad?2024-01-09T10:36:11-05:00

One of the most beautiful features of the Kinus Mechanchos Chabad is the atmosphere of camaraderie and focus on shared values. Feel free to dress accordingly in a comfortable but professional fashion. You may wear formal attire for the Banquet if you wish, but it is not required. Please adhere to the Chabad standard for Tznius dress.

Water bottles, refreshments, pens and notepads will be provided to you. The hotel room comes stocked with your showering needs. Please feel free to bring anything else that will make you comfortable during your stay. Hotels tend to maintain a chilly temperature in the session rooms as well as bedrooms, so feel free to bring an extra layer for the daytime in case it’s needed, as well as an extra layer of sleepwear if you think you might be cold. (You can also adjust the thermostat in your individual room upon arrival.) If you enjoy swimming, please bring your bathing suit as well.

Out of respect for fellow participants, please do not come if you have an active contagious illness. At the same time, we do not take responsibility for the health-related conduct or outcomes of anyone participating in the Kinus. If you are at-risk or have health concerns at the Kinus, please use your own discretion in choosing to participate or taking any precautions that will make you feel more comfortable at the event.

Cancellations before July 4 – כ”ח סיון will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations after that time are non refundable, with the exception of cancellations due to medical reasons which will be refunded up to 50% the day until the Kinus.

RESOURCE FAIR

The Resource Fair at the Kinus Mechanchos Chabad is an opportunity to connect Mechanchos with products, services, and resources for themselves, their families and their classrooms.

The fair will take place on Thursday, July 18th, י׳׳ב תמוז, from 8 AM to 6 PM at The Hilton Stamford Hotel & Executive Meeting Center.

If you provide products that Chabad Mechanchos can benefit from, whether it is books, self-care services, family friendly gifts, educational resources, school programs or services, you can register below to showcase at the Kinus Mechanchos Resource Fair.

Please note the following important details:

  • Your registration includes 1 folding table, table cloth, 1 chair, and a sign that we will print and hang on your table.
  • Please respect other vendors by only using the amount of space and time that you registered for.
  • Please join the Kinus in a way that respects the professionalism and Tznius of Chabad Mechanchos.
  • If you need to drop off your materials in advance, you can do so anytime on Wednesday while the conference is in session. Please notify us in advance if you need any assistance unloading or storing your merchandise.
  • Resource fair registration does not include hotel accommodations.
  • If you would like to be a vendor at both the Men’s Kinus and the Women’s Kinus please email office@mymef.org for a coupon code of $150 off the resource fair fee.
